there are dark clouds hanging in my head, like people lying, people dying, people crying and it's all because of me, and everywhere i look all i see is dark clouds hanging in the air. people stop and stare. i look for answers but there's nothing there. my memory is gone with everything i longed for and once held dear, disappeared before my eyes, to where the smoke is making mountains in the sky.

in the night i'll fly away, i'll find a way to break the forged rings that fire wrought around our veins. reticent light just dims your mind to all those memories so fleeting and far.
place me in familiar hands, a wounded bird, an aging plan. reticent light, the kids don't call or write, and all that once stood tall is now scattered and small.

were screams to shake the lining in my lungs, reverberate and claw until they forced their way out with the carbon gas i've spewed for twenty years.
would they soar towards thickly veiled skies? permeate the clouds and spread until they formed melodies of song in friendly ears?
like the light and leaves fallen to the forest floor and the sagging austere treeline thinning out across the moor - every sound that once caught air and held it for a sail has learned that everything that flies must someday fail.
